Enrichment Activities

Art

Students are provided an encouraging, creative, and fun environment with a broad range of experiences and activities.  The art program supports the Missouri State Standards and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City Standards, and art instruction is based on the Elements and Principles of Art and Design.  Students are exposed to creative opportunities in various mediums and areas of self-expression which are further enriched with Art History and examples of accomplished artists.

Students make their own choices in their art-making with drawing, building, painting, printing, collage, sculpture, and mixed-media projects.  Students in grades K-5, grading will be based on participation and staying on task.  In grades 6-8, letter grades will be given based on participation and the craftsmanship, creativity, and effort of their projects.

Music

Students demonstrate that music education dramatically increases early brain development and improves overall academic performance.  The St. Joseph Catholic School music program is one that has an atmosphere of experiential learning based on the fundamentals of music with hands-on activities that include singing, playing instruments, and moving to and creating music.  There are two concerts per year--one at Christmas and one in the Spring.

  • Primary Music emphasizes practice with gross motor skills, such as galloping, hopping, and dancing.

Christmas Program

Each year St. Joseph School performs two Christmas Concerts--a daytime and an evening performance.  The performance begins with the 5-8th Band and concludes with PK-8 performing vocal renditions of many beloved Christmas classics.

Spring Concert

The Spring Concert is held in May with all of St. Joseph students participating.  The performance begins with the 5-8th Band and concludes with PK-8 performing vocal renditions of beloved music.

Church Choir

The St. Joseph Catholic School students have an opportunity to give their gifts to God at our weekly school masses.  They perform at school liturgies on Tuesdays and at selected holiday masses during the school year.

School Band

Students in grades 5-8 are invited to participate in the St. Joseph Catholic School band.  Our bands will perform a Christmas and Spring concert.
